Developer EICR work across Kent

Developer compliance for electrical work splits into two streams. New installations — circuits added during build, refurb, or conversion — produce an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) at commissioning. Existing installations being inspected periodically produce an EICR. CJA Electrical works with developers across Kent on both: EIC for new work signed off as it goes in, EICR on existing installations inherited through purchase or returned to service after refurb.

EIC vs EICR — getting the document right

The distinction matters. A new build, a fully-rewired refurbishment, or a new circuit added to an existing installation gets an EIC at commissioning — that’s the document Building Control bodies need for sign-off.

An EICR comes in later, on installations that have entered service, as periodic inspection evidence. EICR scope on developer work most often covers refurbishments where existing wiring is being kept and adapted, change-of-use conversions, and periodic inspection of completed phases of multi-phase developments.

We handle both, with the right document for the right job.
